Hello Stingrays!
I am so pumped to be back with you for my 20th season! I have had some amazing times with the Stingrays and I can't wait to have another great summer with my RB family. For those of you who don't know me let me introduce myself. I'm currently a Technology Specialist at Deer Park Elementary and Head Swim Coach with YORK Swim Club in addition to being the Head Coach of the best team in Northern Virginia, the River Bend Stingrays! I have also added Assistant Coach for the boys' High School team these past 4 years - You CANNOT keep me away from the pool! In my time with the team we have won 10 League Titles as well as 10 League Relay Carnival titles.
When I am not on deck with the Stingrays I am probably spending time with my wife, Lisa, and our 3 kids Ben, Luke and Annabelle! We have 2 dogs too and love going on hikes with them.

What’s up Stingrays! I am super excited for my second summer as a part of the Riverbend family! I grew up swimming/coaching for Sully Station in the NVSL (where I coached Mat’s kiddos). Both my older brothers swam/coached, dad was the head official and mom was the team rep (think my mom earned her “SWMTAXI” license plate). I followed that up by swimming for the Virginia Tech varsity team. I am an Algebra I teacher at Glasgow MS and an assistant coach for the West Springfield HS swim team (back-to-back district and region champs!!!). Summer swimming has always held a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to get on the pool deck with y’all this summer!
Hey everyone!
I’m so pumped for this upcoming season! I joined the Stingray family when I was four years old and I couldn’t be more excited to return home…but this time as a coach! My brothers and I have collectively spent 18 years of summers with Coach Mat and I’m incredibly grateful to continue the journey. I graduated from the University of Virginia last May and plan to go to graduate school soon. In the meantime, I’ve loved returning to the sport of swimming this past year as an assistant coach at York Swim Club, as well as an assistant coach for Marshall High School. I truly cannot wait for this summer to begin. It’s going to be a blast and I look forward to meeting everyone!!
Coach Nate is incredible excited to be able to return for his second season as a swimmer coach! He’s been a stingray for over ten years and is thrilled to be able to keep swimming. His favorite stroke is the backstroke, and he loves competing in the 50 back. Outside of the pool Nate is a rising Senior at Langley High School and he enjoys working out, reading, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He cannot wait to be able to see all of his wonderful fellow stingrays, and have an awesome summer! Feel the Sting!
Hi Stingrays! I’m Coach Hannah, and I couldn’t be more psyched for this season. I’ve been a Stingray alongside my brother for over ten years, and it’s always been one of my favorite places to be. Breaststroke is my go-to, but I love everything about being in the water with this team. I’m a rising junior at Langley, and outside of swimming I love traveling, music, and spending time with friends and family. I can’t wait to spend an awesome summer with you all. Go Stingrays!

I’m Coach Lacey and I’m so excited for this season! I’ve been swimming since I was six and I’ve been a Stingray since I was 12. I’m so excited to be able to coach this year and be able to get to know everyone. My favorite stroke is freestyle and my favorite event is the 100 IM. I am a rising senior at Oakcrest School where I also swim over the winter. I like to spend my time reading, drawing and hanging out with my friends. I can’t wait for a truly awesome summer with you all! Go Stingrays!
Hi stingrays! I’m Coach Helena, and I am SO excited to be an official coach this summer! I have been swimming since I was a mini stinger, and am so pumped to spend this summer with you. My favorite stroke is either the 50 freestyle or the 50 backstroke. I am a rising junior at The Potomac School, and in my free time I like to work out, watch TV, and spend time with my friends. I am so hype to spend the summer with you, go stingrays!
